Jack Becomes Lecturer in Practical Theology at Westminster

Westminster Theological Bulletin, 1966, "Miller to Start as Lecturer in Second Semester."

Rose Marie Miller interview.
"RM: You know I remember this, this is really interesting, because when he was there back in uhh 1953, we moved there in ’53, and Karen was, Barb was born in ’54 and then we left in ’55. #1:3:52.2#

RM: Uhh he just loved, he just soaked himself in all of these, he really did, just loved, and did really really well. So when he was ready to return to, to teach, Dr. Vantil said ‘be careful, Jack.’ You know, just, and this is, this is interesting. He said ‘you’re going to find things to be critical, and then just don’t say anything for a year. Just don’t force any criticism for a year.’

But when he came back to finish, he was appalled. He had been out in the trenches and failed and he just didn’t feel that any of the classes were helping him. He felt, he said, I think this is what stirred his heart to take the kids out of this classroom. #1:5:2.7#

M: When he came back the second time? Having been out in the field and failing, he began to realize, I mean its, by breaking it up that way it was providential because now he realized there was a gap between the classroom and the practice.
